Frequently asked questions about crossing the border

How accurate is the wait time prediction?

We average samples from the same weekday and hour over the last 30 days. We need at least 3 valid samples to emit a prediction. Typical error: ±15 min on regular days, higher on holidays. It complements live data, doesn't replace it.

What are the best hours to cross the border?

As a rule of thumb, before 6 am and after 10 pm see less wait. Mondays and Fridays are typically the busiest. Use the per-bridge prediction tool for your exact date — patterns vary by location.

What's the difference between SENTRI, Ready Lane and regular lane?

SENTRI/NEXUS are CBP trusted-traveler programs with prior vetting; shortest waits but require enrollment. Ready Lane accepts RFID-enabled passports and cuts 10-30% off wait. Regular lane is for anyone with valid documents.

How often are wait times updated?

We sync with the official CBP API every 10 minutes. The timestamp shows top-right. If you see stale data (>20 min) it may be a CBP API hiccup — try again in a few minutes.

Does prediction work for every bridge?

Yes, as long as we have at least 3 valid samples for the same lane, weekday and hour in the last 30 days. Low-traffic or newly added bridges may show "collecting data" until we have enough history.

Is the report and prediction free to use?

Yes, completely free. No registration or login required. We may show contextual ads to keep the service running. Postear.com.mx also includes classifieds, jobs and border-area services at no cost to users.
